You could use them together, IF and I recomend it Buy yourself two nice size
capacitors designed for whatever size amps you may have they get wired to
the amp at the positive battery connection or you can place them both
(Battey con and capacitor) on an external wire block and connect the amp to
it.
.In case you dont know> what this does is when the amps dont require a lot
of charge the Alt will fill the capacitors then when the amp needs some
extra juice it will pull it from the caps NOT from your battery. This will
allow the ALT to still provide enough juice for the normal load to your
accessories and charge the battery. You could also consider a higher output
Alternator than stock. That way when you have underdrive pullies on you
still get at least as much juice as you had with the stock. It doesnt take
much more energy to turn the HO compared to stock so you will not be
defeating the gains you get from the pulleys.
