My radar detector saved me twice coming back from South Dakota to Texas last
Saturday. My detector picked up the radar about 3/4-mile away. I think the
troopers were using instant-on, but I got stray feed from the car(s) in
front of me, and was able to slow down in time. So, yes, detectors do still
have their place.
FWIW, it's a Uniden unit, got it at WallyWorld about 6 years ago for around
$80 - it's saved me a number of times.
