Infinity Stereo questions (kinda long)

Hey guys,

I've been playing around with the Infinity system on my '99 RC. It
sounds pretty decent, and I'm pleased with it except for the fact that I
think it could, and should, be louder to overcome the wind noise at highway
speeds. Obviously, it needs more power and/or better speakers.
The rear speakers are pretty much useless with the stock setup. You can
adjust the fader all the way to the back, with the volume max, and u can
hardly hear them. According to Crutchfield, they're 5-1/4's. These speakers
have no highs or lows.... my clock radio sounds better than they do! You
can't hear a difference AT ALL with the fader all the way to the front!
The front (or doors), use the 6-1/2 (guessing) and a separate tweeter.
These sound decent. They REALLY overpower the back though. With the joystick
set in the center, you can a comfortable listening level, and adjust the
fader to the back and get hardly any sound. It just goes away. I thought at
first that it was just getting absorbed by the seats, but its not.
I think what I'm not happy with is that its not a well balanced system
from front to back. I'm considering adding a Pioneer GM/Chrysler deck and
bypassing the stock Infinity amp. That would give me 45W x 4 max (22W RMS
x4) as opposed to the 66W total I have now. It also has a Front Image
Enhancer to better balance the system. I've had one of these decks before in
my old Daytona and it was great!
Is there a direct fit speaker that will fit right in the back that will
actually sound good? Also, does the factory amp actually put out 66W? How is
it rated? Does it use speaker level inputs? Is it easy to bypass?

Thanks,

Doug Myers
