It would also be a good idea to have an extra tranny cooler installed. The
thing that hurt these trannies the most was people towing heavy loads in
OD - the OD unit would get very hot and roast itself or other parts of the
tranny. Not a bad idea to install a tranny temp gauge, either. However,
using common sense as to when to use OD is your best guarantee of long
tranny life.

Also, I'm not sure if the A-518 trannys sold thru MP or outside vendors are
drilled for the soft shifts or for durability. If it seems to shift pretty
soft when you first try it out, you may want to add the tranny kit or have a
good tranny shop beef it up (just like they would a 727 tranny).
