I use the 93 Octane because it more of a cleaner fuel than 89 but that would
not cause the pinging.

Sounds like this was a salesman. If it was dealer service,
I think I would find another dealership/service. I've never
heard of 93 octane causing an idle problem in a 40 year life
span, but I could be wrong. Someone suggested clogged injectors,
that sounds much better to me.
