Hi,
My truck pings. It's stock except for the plug wire rerouting, which
helped stop it from missing but not pinging.

Some observations:
It pings cold, right away, no warmup. This makes me wonder if maybe
it's not really pinging, but has an exhaust leak or something. I'm not
convinced either way. It may do both. It almost sounds as if it makes a
different noise cold vs hot, but both sound like detonation.
It pings less when it's raining. (CC temp I think)
It didn't ping at all on one trip at high altitude. It lives at 4500 feet,
at 6000 or 7000 it didn't ping. I'm guessing that if it lived at 6k it
would ping there.
It pings more when the tank is low on fuel, and the fuel pump makes a
ringing sound (all the time).

I want to do some troubleshooting, like check the fuel pressure, but have
been busy with other things. I will of course post any results if any.

mike
