3" is way too much for the V6. Unless you've got a "Race Built" V6 (which
we don't) you shouldn't be running anything more than 2.5". You might be
able to get away with it if the muffler is restricted.

I think the thought is that 3" is too much for the V6, not the V8.
I'm not so sure though. I chose to get the Gibson for my 6er anyway,
as it's a good system, I liked that their advertising focused on
perfomance rather than sound, and I figured if I lost low end I could
return it. I don't believe that I have lost any low end. I've been
trying it out since I installed it. To test the bottom end, I drive
up residential (speed limit 25, but usually behind someone and stuck
at 15-20)hills in 3rd gear. Usually, I would take these hills in
2nd, because in the past if I started losing speed in 3rd, I couldn't
get it back without downshifting. Might as well start the hill in
2nd, I figured. With the Gibson on, I have driven up these hills in
3rd- up the hill, 800rpm, accelerating slightly. (and making a
splendid noise, might I add)

At the lower RPMs, I don't notice a huge performance increase, but it
runs a little smoother. When I hit about 2400rpm, it's like I grew
another cylinder. (there's that v7 Dak, Dave!)
I do often drive it in a lower gear than I would have before, because
I like to feel it pull. This works out really well for me, because I
often drive at speeds where I could maybe shift to 4th, but only
just... and I'm going to have to slow down in a block or two anyway.
In 3rd, it feels just right. I could put it in a higher gear, it
would run fine, but it runs BETTER at a little higher RPM.
OK, that was my pro-Gibson essay. I'll try to stop with the essays
now.
