I put an 8 3/4 rearend out of a 66 or 67 Fruy III in my 89 dak. The
housing was 1 inch narrower than the stock unit. The hardest part was
welding on the new spring perches and shock mounts. I had mine completed
in pretty much one day. The backing plates for the brakes off of the stock
rearend will bolt directly to the 8 3/4. For the most part it was a lot
easier thwn i thought, and you get a lot stronger differential.
