Maybe I'm just dense, but I don't see anything on the site that details
what the actual test is, beyond a brake test and dyno run (and the
details of them are completely unknown).

Basically, there's no way for me, or anyone else, to know that the
people running the site know what's going on behind the curtain, so to
speak, and thus could easily be dismissed with "they don't know what's
going on, they don't know what they're talking about" and ignored.
