It's like updating the BIOS on your home computer. There is a chip in the
truck computer called an EEPROM - Electronically Erasable Programmable Read
Only Memory. It contains information for the computer so it knows how to
run the truck's engine. Stuff like fuel curve maps, ignition advance
curves, and a whole bunch of other goodies. It basically tells the on
board computer how to run and what to do.

Flashing means to update the EEPROM. Erase the old stuff on the chip, and
program it with the new info.
