RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ Two bombs exploded today when drivers of
pickup trucks started their vehicles, and one driver was injured,
police said. A third bomb was found unexploded in a nearby town.
The first bomb went off about 6:30 a.m. as a man turned the
ignition on his truck in a Chesterfield County subdivision south of
Richmond. The driver was taken to a hospital; his injuries that
were not life-threatening, police said.
The second explosion happened about 7:50 a.m. in another
Chesterfield subdivision as a man put his pickup into gear. He was
not injured.
Both trucks were damaged.
Another bomb was found about 8:30 a.m. outside a restaurant in
Petersburg, roughly 10 to 15 miles to the south. It did not
explode.
Chesterfield police, state police and federal officials were
investigating the explosions. Police said the bombs were related
but gave no details.
