A excerpt from the paper entitled " The Vehicular History of the Late
Twenteth Century"

{Based upon the research of this researcher during the post WWII era a
limited segment of the population was found to have a genetic predisposition
for larger and more massive lower right appendages. This group of fortunate
individuals showed a tendance to gravitate toward vehicles with larger and
more powerful drivetrains. This researcher has found that in the late 1960's
this group temporarily exerted their infulence on the automobile
manufactures, which resulted in cars that were later to be called "Muscle
Cars". In layman terms, these "Lead Foots" ruled the streets of that era.
But the prevailing and larger segment of the population known as "Tree
Huggers" enacted legislation that forced automobile manufactures to restrict
the emissions of such vehicles. This caused a decline but not a
disappearence of "Muscle Cars". This group of geneticly gifted individuals
then went into a trance cause by marriage and/or child rearing. This group
was forced by circumstances to drive "safer" and "more sensable" vehicles
till the later part of the 1980's. After some time this group began to
either divorce their spouses and/or because of their offspring had achieved
adulthood, respond to their geneticly programmed desires to exert their more
powerful right foot. They fulfilled these desires in two ways: Restoring old
"Muscle Cars" or again influencing automobile manufactures to produce torque
ladden vehicles once again. This genetic predisposition was now recognized
by their offspring. This desire to imulate their parents manifested itself
in two forms: The purchase of torque ladden vehicles now being produced or
the lesser and lest desirable option, the purchase of small displacement,
noisy, foreign vehicles. This second and lest desirable trend in the
younger populations has yet to be corrected by the older generation, but this
researcher has high hopes that this situation will have a positive
conclusion. So once again this geneticly superior group rules the streets.
This researcher has discovered a phrase that this aforemented group has
created
"Smoke'm if ya Gott'em", and this concludes this researcher's findings. "
