Subject: DML: Anyone want to talk prices on '00,Sport,CC,V8,4X4? (Long)

Tomorrow might be the day I buy. I have been quoted a MSRP price of
$23,980 and an invoice price of $21,954 for: (MSRP/Invoice):
'00 Sport CC 4X4 $20,085/18,155 base price
4.7 V8 (5 spd) 590/502
Anti-spin diff. 285/242
4 wheel anti-lock 495/421
Heavy duty service 120/102
Tilt/cruise 390/332
6X9 power mirrors 160/136
Skip plate group 130/111
Seat pwr 6 way 320/272
Sports Plus group 885/752 *
(ac, fog lights,
light group, tire
& handling group &
rear stabilizer bar)
Destination charge (St. Louis) 520/520
* after discount

Added to the invoice price, but not the MSRP, are $9 for gas, $20 owner
communication program, funds metro PPA (?)$380 = $409

I talked to two dealerships today right off they said they would sell it
for $100 over invoice (this would be an ordered truck) so that is
$22,054. As I understand hold back (funds provided by the manufacture to
the dealer, to cover cost for first 90 days of the vehicle being on the
lot and advertising) for Dodge it is 3% of total MSRP minus the
destination charge (.03 X $23,980-$520) = $719.

So right now there's $819 between what I can buy it for and what it will
cost the dealer. Now, I'm not looking to "hurt" the dealership (and they
won't let it happen), but this is business. Plus, I have no doubt the
dealership is making more than $819 off this deal one way or the other.
Note, this does not include the "processing fee" of $54 to $79 depending
on the dealership.

My question is, and not meaning to be rude about it, but has anyone
purchased a similar package for less than invoice, $21,954, or even near
$21,235. I know the dealerships have a threshold at which it's not worth
doing the deal. Also, prices will very some from region to region, but
if anyone was willing to share info, I wanted to get a good idea of how
low others have got a dealership to go. There are no discounts or
rebates being offered on this package.

Also, is there something I'm failing to consider in all this ?

As always any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Again, I'm not out
to stick it to the dealership or salesman. I just want to make sure I
don't get stuck.
