Re: Truck still has no spark

Brad-

I'm pretty sure that the computer is fine, now that we actually found the
problem. It hasn't been resolved yet, so I'm not guaranteeing anything, but
I'm pretty sure that the broken distributor pickup is the problem in my
case. A Pin worked itself out of the distributor shaft, and broke out the
pickup plate in the distributor. No big deal really, but still a PITA.

HOWEVER - I HAVE heard of changes in the electrical system screwing up the
computer.... especially changing ignition system voltage, etc. But I have
nothing like that... I've tapped into power for Driving lights, Air Horns,
and an amplifier/eq so I don't think that caused it. I'm running the stock
coil and ignition. That wouldn't be something that gradually shorts
something out though, it would be pretty quick. The bad rebuild on the
alternator COULD gradually burn something out, because of the ability of the
incorrect voltage to heat things up, then cool them off repeatedly, slowly
damaging the system. I would check to be sure the voltage isn't a smidge too
high, or too low, and consider replacing the alternator with a new one.

Hope this helped you.
