Adding a trans cooler is good/bad. Good if you want to get the most out of
the trans in your truck now. Bad if you want it to shift hard and fast on
the track. Reason being, adding a trans cooler with lower the pressures
found within the transmission. Lower pressures equal less holding power, and
slower shifts; However (not the "However") while raing, a cooler is very nice
in the fact that it will help cool the trans after each lap with it. You
would be very surprised how hot the fluid in the trans gets while stalling
and while under wot. I have been through 5 trans, and all 5 have died while
at the track. I have tried the cooler and without the trans cooler. My
results, I lost about .18 seconds with the slower shifting and sliping trans
with the cooler than without. However,... I also got about twice as many
passes out of the trans with the cooler in line. So, if speed and hard fast
shifts are what you want, go with no cooler. If everyday driving with an
occasional strip pass is your way of fun, go with the largest cooler
available. Good Luck.
