If you hear a rattling it might be a heat shield. One way you can tell your
cat is bad is to smell the exhaust (now I don't mean get on your hands and
knees and suck the tailpipe). If it smells like rotten eggs you need a new
cat. A bad cat doesn't flow any better that good ones --- in fact they're
worse because they are clogged. You can buy a performance cat (several
companies make them and Summit has several of them for sale.
