I didn't have to destroy that little plastic piece when I removed
mine. I just pushed the blade of a screwdriver under it and flipped
it off. The surrounding plastic is kinda soft, so you can push into
it, no harm done.

The only shifters i've found require some pretty major customization.
but as
far as the nob goes you have to pull that little shifter locator
picture
thing off of the top to reveal a screw you almost definitely will
have to
destroy that little plastic piece so be sure you want to do it.

I'd like to get a shorter throw.

Also, is there a way to remove the "knob" on the stock shifter? I
haven't really tried, but it seems as though thats there for good.
I'd
like to put a different one there.

Also, while I'm at it anyone here have the 2.5L engine in their
truck?
