I had the same noise! I ended up with a new pressure plate, new Drum, all
new internal mechanicals, new P-brake cable, and new shoes (both sides on
the shoes)! Oh, and as an added bonus, since they had to remove the axle
to replace the pressure plate, I got a diff. fluid replacement at 9000
miles! Good Luck!
Oh, they couldn't figure out exactly what caused it because everything
inside the drum was literally destroyed. The P-cable end had been sheared
off, the shoes had disintigrated, and basically gutted the whole brake
system on that side.
>Since new (all ten days now), I have heard an occasional scraping sound
>coming from the rears. Like the brakes are grinding or the inside of the
>wheels are scrapping the calipers or something.
