Hi all,

I recently had to do a few repairs on my Dakota and thought you all
might
be interested in a few things....First, if you ever have to replace a
busted lens, say the headlight, or turning blinker or side wrap lens,
you
may be aware of this or not, but you have to buy the WHOLE light
assembly!
I had a run in with a semitruck last week shredding one of his POS
retreads in front of me.....whole darn tread came off in one long
strip
and smashed into the front of my vehicle. Damage--destroyed the
grille,
broke what I think is the air condtioner evaporator mount, shattered
the
grille and fender bug shields and broke the lens of my drivers side
headlamp. Well I have to have lights and the local junk yards didn't
have
any junked dakotas for parts, so I went to the Dodge parts man....Cost
$220.00 plus tax! Now I now thats not bad for the whole assembly, but
all
I needed was the replacement headlight lens. So if anyone needs a
replacement drivers side blinker and wrap around lens, email me at the
below adddress, I'll cut loose of it for substancially less than
Dodge!

Next, the replacement
grille....I have the sport package which inlcudes the color matched
grille
to the paintjob....Replacement cost $270.00 ! But again it is an
assembly---has the grille plus the little black vent thingys....Ok,
just
for the hell of it I asked how much the Chrome grille was....Cost
$165.00.
$165.00 ??? But its part of the SLT package which I thought would make
it
more expensive--not so. The reason I was told is that the color
matched
grilles must be "painted" before they are shipped out because they
keep
very little stock of the prepainted on hand, whereas, the chrome
grille
is kept in pretty high stock since it is part of a package addon.
Whatever. I'd rather have the Chrome grille anyway! Just though you
might be interested. Have a good weekend!

Will
