Read thru this URL to get ideas on why diesels aren't sold much in the U.S.
anymore. The main reason is that GM really gave diesels a bad name in the
U.S. (thankfully, Dodge and Cummins are slowly changing that!), the other
reason is the economy vs. fuel prices. If diesel stays where it's at and
gas prices go to over $2/gal like they're predicting, I think you will see
more diesels being sold...... One reason diesels sold well in the late
70's is because you didn't have to wait in line to get fuel, and diesel will
probably always be a more stable fuel supply since the country's
infrastructure runs on it (e.g. - trucks, buses, trains, ships, even
planes).
