I've seen this. I question the validity of the test. The poor
results seem to be based primarily on the movement of the dummy,
which is kind of random. The tests by the NHTSA (or whatever they're
called) for frontal and side impact crashes were both very good. Why
would the truck be so much weaker from this one angle? Finally, look
at highway fatality statistics; which only go through '95 vehicles,
but I don't believe that the external redesign would make the truck
that much weaker. The Dakota was considerably better than average in
those statistics- one of the best trucks, in fact.
