Your license would read example 4N12345: this is a commercial plate. I am
seriously considering a class-action lawsuit against the state of
California. Apparently, if you don't have a rear camper shell the truck is
considered a commercial vehicle and makes no difference that you have a
business license or not. The charge for an commercial plate is higher than
regular plates.

Since truck body vehicle are now selling about 73 percent of the current
sales market here in California, I think I have enough evidence to prove my
case in court. Commercial vehicle could be cars, motorcycles, or trucks
(SUV, SUT, or panel vans). If the vehicle is solely use for commercial than
it should registered as commercial but not a Dakota for recreational
driving.

I took a look at my invoice and all the "fixin's" on it...no mention of
commercial. (Date of Purchase: 3/97 from San Jose, CA)

Commerial. All trucks in CA. are considered commericial.

Good thing-- you can park in ANY yellow zone for up to 20 minutes.
ALSO-- if you have a commercial vehicle, the license plate will be
#A##### (#=number, A=Letter)..Unless it's a personalized plate...

Bad thing -- you have to pay a little more $$$ for a commercial truck
tag valued at $25000 vs. a car tag valued at $25000.
