Yes! That is about right. I went through all options of first total amount
of dollars capped on this project and found the HEMI, WEDGE, or V-10's are
out of the league. My cap is 20K on this project and went at looked at what
Ford SVT did to there vehicles for 31K. See I can do better with a Dak and
better for performance. The 380HP/360 Magnum is the best deal at 2995.00.
I found out for those who have older engines that new blocks go for
1500-1900 for a 360. Now I have been talking to several performance shops
of yanking the engine and seeing the cost value for modification to the
compression (currently 9.3:1) to 10.5, street/strip cam, .60 oversize,
direct drive timing gears etc. What is more feasible, the 4.7 mod or the
crate 360?

Having a great engine is wonderful only if you have the right suspension
that can turn on a dime. This is very expensive item to include but well
worth the money. However, I would love to have a six speed double plated
clutch Tranny.

I really want a motor like that but it would be too expensive and too
complicated of an install. 11 grand for a motor, then I have to find a
tranny, fuel injection, probably an Accel DFI system, custom mount
everything, yadda, yadda, yadda. It would be way beyond the scope of my
knowledge, so I would have to pay someone to do it for me. The whole thing
will end up costing me close to 20 grand!! I feel I can get the same power
using other means, saving me alot of trouble, almost no hacking up of a good
truck, with money left over to put into the other mods.
I honestly though of the V10 crate for a bit (Vipertruck should have a
Viper engine, right) but I scrapped that idea for the same reason. A
well-built 360 can put out 500HP probably for about 5 grand.
