Sorry, couldn't resist. Not much can go wrong, but most are looking at how
long it takes to build up pressure. The initial starting of an engine does
all the wear and tear on an engine, if proper maintenance is done
religiously, of course If you have a filter with a back anti-drainback
valve, for instance, there will be a long delay in the start of oil
pressure buildup. That delay reduces the life of the motor. According to
Prolube, or whatever the name of the company that makes the electric
powered pre-start oil pump, says like 500 miles of wear is done per dry
startup. Don't need a calculator to add that up. I'm not taking the 500
number as gospel, but wear is done, no doubt about that.
Sooooooo Flip, it's not necessarily if you have oil pressure or not, it's
how long it takes to get a minimum of 10 psi oil pressure after startup.
