I'm about ready to purchase an ARE CX series cap myself. Many people I
work with have the same cap, but on Ford's instead. They appear to be very
sturdy. In fact, the add for them shows am man standing on top of one. It's
supposed to rated for something like 200-250 lbs. Installed and painted to
oem specs is about 850.00.

        Subject: DML: Dakota fiberglass caps

        Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase a cab-high fiberglass cap for my 2k Dakota
Quad. I
don't really like the looks of the Leer 100XQ (styled to make the
Dak look
like a durango), and Leer has informed me that they will NOT be
making the
100XL (standard styling) for this truck.

I want the flush windows, tight fit look like the Leer. I'm looking
at the
A.R.E. Z series caps, very nice, but I'm not sure about their
strength etc.
Does anyone have an A.R.E cap? I understand their tonneau lids are
very
nice. I'll be putting a rack on top for a canoe eventually, so
strength is
        important.

The other cap I'm going to look at is the Astro legacy series.
Don't like
them quite as well because they have the dual handles on the cap
lid, but
they are manufactured locally and I know they are high quality caps.

Anyone have other manufacturers that they'd like to suggest, or
experiences
with these companies to talk about?

        Thanks!
