I put the R/T wheels on my 99 4x4 sport CC, but instead of going with the R/T-sized tires I matched the size of the original 31x10.5's. I thought a smaller tire might look goofy with the extra lift
of the 4x4. Also, I didn't want to have to dick with my speedometer. I think the end result looks awesome, no more big balloon tires.
A 275-60-17 tire on the R/T wheel is nearly identical in all dimensions to the original 31x10.5 tire on the 15x8 wheel. Circumference and overall width are the same. Tread width is a tiny bit more,
but it doesn't rub. Obviously, sidewall height is less, but that's good for non-off-road. I bought the Dunlop Sport Rover GTX and am extremely happy. The combination of the shorter sidewalls and a
kinda-performancy tire makes it a pleasure to drive on pavement. It no longer feels like there's a rubber band somewhere between me and the road!
BTW, before I get hassled again about the stupidity of performancy tires on a 4x4, and the need for tall sidewalls for off-road, PLEASE NOTE that I don't intend to use my Dak off-road much, if ever.
I got a 4x4 for winter reasons. The Dunlops actually aren't a great snow/ice tire, but I use 31x10.5 Bridgestone Winter Duelers on the original 15x8 rims. Winter Duelers plus 4x4 is ABSOLUTELY
AWESOME on snow and ice.

Subject: DML: 17" R/T rims on my 4x4 sport.......need some help
here......(long)
You all know how the R/T looks with its 17''s
255/55's right?
ok. And the R/T also has a 1 inch lowered suspension. I want to get the R/T
rims.
What size tire would I have to get to fill up the wheel wells similar to an
R/T?
255/60's? bigger? ANy help or ideas would be a big help.
