Hello,
With all of the messages about road trips recently on DML, I thought I
might throw my adventure last Saturday morning out for all to enjoy.
It 2:15am, I'm sound asleep. The phone rings, my in-laws are both very
elderly, so a phone call in the middle of the night usually means trouble.
Turns out to be a freind of mine who lives 30 miles to the north of me. He
sounds kind of sheepish, as he explains the run in he has had with a Missouri
Highway Patrolman. He was arrested for speeding in incliment and DWI, and
needed to be driven home. OK, I've never gotten into this kind of trouble,
but what are freinds for. He mentions that it is snowing. Well snow is one
thing Blizzard is something else. The main highway (Highway 63) from
Jefferson City, to Columbia has about 4-6 inches of snow on it. Driving into
this nightmare made me think of warp drive on Star Trek or something. The
only way I could make sure I was on the road was to watch the shoulder of the
road where a snowplow had piled up a ridge taller than the snow on the road.
I was basicly blazing a path for others. Thank God for BF Goodrich! Anyway a
normal 30 minute drive took me 2 1/2 hours. As a final note, after I got home
the snow had frozen my emergency brake solid, I had to let it sit in the
garage for 6 hours till it thawed out. Interesting thing, the weather on
Wednsday last week was in the 70's on friday night we get 8 inches of snow.
Go figure, its Missouri!
Chris
