Ahhhh...don't worry about it. (It's not like I never changed the oil and
forgot to put the drain plug back on.) ;)

SON-OF-A-B! Thanks Bernd! I had the G.D. thing backwards... Don't I feel
like a <insert nasty words here>! I'll pick-up a new one when I get a
chance
as the bad boy that's in there now is stone cold dead.
Thanks again for straightening me out!
Tom

The PCV Valve (little black thingy) is on the passenger side, the breather
(big black thingy) is on the driver side. You want a picture of it?? (If
this is on a '97-up, that's where they are.)

The little plunger (about 1.5" tall with a 3/8" opening) is the PCV valve.
If it vibrates, change it.

No, no, no... ;-) The PCV valve is on the drivers side and connects to the
airhat. This thingy is on the *passenger side* valve cover at about the
same
spot (towards the rear) and connects to the TB directly and not via the
airhat... I checked my FSM and it says that's were a crankcase breather
*filter* would go and then it turns around and says a crankcase breather
filter
is no longer used on the magnum engines? What the hell is this thing then?
I'm getting the feeling this belongs on the X-Files or something! ;-) I
went
out and fired up the engine again and held the thingy... The SOB actually
vibrates while the engine warms up... It's like it has a slide plunger or
piston just like a PCV valve does but it's on the other side of the engine.
I'm confused! WHAT IS THIS THING! ;-)

If you're referring to the black "thingy" on the driver-side valve cover
that
connects to the air hat, yup...that's the crankcase breather. Take it out
and shake it. If it rattles, it's broken and you can purchase a new one
(Fram) from PepBoys for about $8.00. If it doesn't rattle, you've got a
different problem.

(All that's in there is a baffle and some foam/wire mesh to filter the oil
vapors which in turn get sucked into the intake system (emissions stuff).
I've taken one apart and that's ALL that's in there.

Anybody notice that the crankcase breather filter/thing rattles like a
son-of-a-gun when you first start the truck? Note: They call it a filter
but
I can't see how this thing (looks like a PCV valve but it's on the opposite
valve cover from the PCV) filters anything.

It's louder than the lifters, combustion, fan or anything else under my
hood.
Have I got a problem or is this normal?
Tom
