U-Joints; Front Driveshaft

Well I found out what has been making the loud clunking noise on my Dak, one
of the 3 front driveshaft universal joints. The front driveshaft uses 2
ujoints("CV" style) at the tcase and one ujoint at the front axle. On the
front driveshaft, it is really a 2 piece design(seperated near the zerk
fitting), and I was always grabbing the front half looking for play, and it
was non-existant. Today, I grabbed the rear half of the driveshaft and there
was slop; I could pull the driveshaft towards the front of the truck and
push it towards the rear of the truck, thus indicating a worn u-joint. I
would say there was about 1/4" os play, so I am going to replace either both
of the rear u-joints on the front driveshaft, or just replace the one bad
ujoint. I am leaning towards having all 3 replaced just since I will have to
take the driveshaft down anyways for repair to be done. I am going to try to
determine which of the rear two u-joints are bad, just for reference. I am
also going to try to get some good Spicer u-joints put back in, ALL having
zerk fittings on them, unlike the stock u-joints which are 'sealed' and not
serviceable. I will let everyone know what I find out and what prices are
like for the driveshaft. Currently, I am going to take the front driveshaft
into the driveline shop and just have them replace the u-joints, since I
dont have a press and I am not using the hammer/socket technique. This
driveline shop is the place where I had my front CV Joint worked on, they
are awesome and have awesome prices. The rear driveshaft is very tight,
probably because it does have zerk fittings on the u-joints!!
