I mentioned this a while back, and just wanted to send an update to the
DML. Some friends of mine and myself were thinking of setting up a
co-located server to use for some projects we are working on, and doing web
hosting to help offset the costs. We have decided to go ahead with
it. Once it is set up, I will be moving www.dakota-truck.net there and
combining both DML web sites into one. I haven't decided wether or not to
do so, but since the web site will no longer be at fredonia.edu, I will
also be able to sell advertising (banners) to help offset the cost of the
list. (I am currently not allowed to do this because of the contract the
college has with their ISP.)
Getting back to the DML content, after the move is complete, I will be
able to offer DMLers web hosting, either under your own domain name, or if
you don't have one, your home page could be http://www.dakota-truck.net/you
or even http://you.dakota-truck.net. Also available will be
dakota-truck.net e-mail addresses, pop3 mailboxes, e-mail forwarding,
etc. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, drop me a
line (jon@dakota-truck.net) and I'll keep you informed as the details get
hashed out. (Services, policies, costs, etc.) I will send out such
details as they become available to the folks who are interested and
probably also to the offtopic list, but as this is probably borderline for
the main DML list, this will be my only post about this here until its up
and running.
A few people have expressed an interest in this already, so I wanted to
send out an update for everybody. The main thing I wanted to convey is
that we are go for launch, and our target date to be fully up and running
is May 15. Again, this will be my only post about this here on the main
list, so if you'd like updates, please let me know or keep an eye on the
off topic list. Thanks!
