Legendary Hood

Hey gang,
I got my truck back from the shop yesterday with the
Legendary hood painted and installed. It looks good
but I have some fitment issues to resolve. The hood is
about an 1/8 of an inch narrower than it needs to be
at the back (by the windshield). The inside lip of the
hood is rubbing/sitting on the top of the fender. This
is causing there to be too much gap between the hood
and fenders (about a 1/2 inch). The hood is sitting on
the fender bolts closest to the windshield. I will
have to remove some material to close the gap. I
removed the fender bolts and the hood fit very well.
So I will grind down the bolt heads some, and take
some off the hood and I should be OK. I don't know why
the body shop didn't catch this when they fit it.
Pisses me off to have to remove material from a piece
that is already painted. The hood also has a slight
bow to it, making the gap betweem the hood and fenders
larger in the middle than at the ends.
Looking at the bill, the shop has 3.5 hrs to
refinish outside, 1.5 hrs to refinish underside, 4.5
hrs to fit & modify/remove flaws (the shop guy said it
was more like 8 hrs but he was giving me a break/my
neighbor), 2 hrs to color blend the fenders,
remove/install V8 badges, 2.4 hrs to clear coat, and 1
hr to color sand and buff. Total labor was 14.9 hrs,
paint and materials was $200.
All in all I'm a little disappointed with the
fitment problem, once I get it squared away I'm sure
I'll be happy. Any questions fire away. I'm in digest
mode so response time will be slow.
