Trying to estimate how much to save<<

the engine rebuild would've been about $800-ish... but I went with head
porting and boring it .025 over, plus a sh*t load of performance goodies
(pistons, cam, roller rockers) which brought the price up a good bit.
Plus I'm making sure I get moly rings and a double roller timing chain
and some other "just to be on the safe side" things since I am shootin'
for 13's. I'm having a performance Engine shop do my rebuild/build-up.
It's gonna be a total of about $1900 for the build up, balancing,
blueprinting, flowbench, dyno, painting, and reassembly. They promised me
over 400 at the flywheel... I don't think 2 large is too much to ask =)
