Unless physically damaged from an accident or something. Catalytic
converters gone bad always indicate a problem elsewhere which if not
fixed will toast as many as you can buy and install.
Have your system checked ASAP or the new one will overheat and meltdown
also.

Did you replace with a high flow unit ? In VA to do that the original
must be documented as bad and needing replacement, this document must be
kept in the vehicle. But once the converter melts down and a shop gives
you paperwork to replace it, a high flow can be installed.
