Betch-ya nobody has ever heard of this!!

Hey everyone

My cat started to rattle so I decide to pull off my muffler and clean it
out. Easy to do for me because my exhaust exists out the side in front of
the right tire. After removing the muffler I was able to break up the
"honey comb" material using a long pry bar. I would start the truck and
with some quick cracks of the throttle blow the chunks across the shop
floor. I kept repeating this until the cat was clean. I then replaced the
muffler and started the truck and heard a rattling noise coming from under
the hood so I shut it down. When I checked to see what was up I discovered
that the waterpump shaft was bent! Checked all the pulleys, fan and belt
and everything was fine. This pump was only about 3 months old. The only
explanation I could come up with was that when I goosed the throttle the
crank pulley pulled so hard on the pump that the shaft bent. I never
redlined it, only went to about 3,000 RPM. I ended up claiming warranty on
the pump and put a new one in. Anyone else ever have this happen!

After cleaning out the cat my butt dyno tells my that my performance is
down, is this possible? Thinking about installing a new converter but it's
not necessary because we don't have emission testing.
