Been running a 14" open air K&N FIPK for over 4 years, sucking in lots of
hot , underhood air on my 318 with NO pinging whatsoever. While hot air
isn't as good as cold air, lots of air is better than less air. From what
Bernd has determined, the problem is specific to certain year engines
which were previously fine. I think Shane's got the solution for those
with the pinging problem.
