Just got the July 2000 issue of High Performance MoPar today. They had a
write-up on a '97 Dak SLT Club Cab, 5.2L, NV3500, 3:91 that they changed
over to synth fluids (engine oil, tranny oil, and rear end). Base dyno run
was 176.9hp at 4300rpm and 248.5ft-lb torque at 3300rpm. After they changed
all fluids, the dyno run was 186.1hp at 4300rpm and 4400rpm and 251.5ft-lb
torque at 3300rpm. They then added a K&N FIPK, resulting in a dyno run of
193.1hp at 4400rpm and 267.2ft-lb torque at 3200rpm.
Basically, they are saying a oil, tranny fluid, and diff. fluid change + K&N
netted a 16.2hp increase, along with a 18.7ft-lb torque increase. If that's
truly the case, those are some pretty good numbers for the money involved.
Btw, they used Red Line fluids.
