I will do the reverse. I want to suck up cold dense air from the air vent
located next to the windshield. Using a small flat K&N filter with a tube
running straight back.

Subject: Re: DML: RE: 4.7 issues?

I had reservations about the 4.7's 'polymer' intake manifold before I
bought mine. I talked to my Brother who is the unit man at a Volksawagen and

Subaru dealership in Viginia. I mentioned the polymer intake and he said
"thats good". I was like HUH?? He said the Germans have been doing that
for
a number of years now. And so I just relayed that was worried about heat
warpage or leaks and he said that the engines where Volkwagen has gone to
those types of intakes have exibited much fewer problems related to the
intake
than they had when they were using aluminum. And he should know cause he's
the
one that gets to do all engine or trans re-builds or serious
external/internal
work. I did quite a bit of looking around on the net to find if there were
problems related to the 4.7 (Thats how I found the DML!!) and I couldn't
find any problems specific to the 4.7 either in a DAK or in a Jeep Grand
Cherokee. One of the 4X4 magazines did an extended road test of a Jeep GC
with
the 4.7 and had nothing but nice things to say about the engine. The only
complaint I have about the 4.7 is it's a pain to change the oil filter.
Gotta
fab up a new air dam for the front or something..... should call it and 'air

DAMN'!!

---- previous post ----

- snip - I have heard only second hand that
some of the plastic intake manifolds have had cracking problems but that
info came from someone I don't trust well, he could be jealous ? I
absolutely love mine, but only have 1750 miles on it so far.
