Tight Tie Rods/Ball Joints!

Well I took my Dak in this morning to get the routine 6,000 mile old tire
rotation and to have all four tires balanced, all under warranty of course.
I also had them check the alignment, which is also under warranty. I had
asked the tech to inspect all the front end steering parts, and to give me a
quote for repair, if needed. The guy asked, "how many miles is on your
truck?" I told him 121,000 miles, and this is why I thought some front end
parts may need replacement. I was playing the 'not-so-automotively-inclined
person', just to see what he would say. The tech agreed and said probably
the tie rods, atleast. I just wanted a 'professional opinion' on what may
need to be worked on, but I would do all the work myself. I sorta thought my
tie rods were loose and possibly even the ball joints. I just replaced the
pitman arm about 5 months ago and the idler arm I put on last year. So about
45 minutes later, my Dak was done......with nothing wrong with the steering
parts. The tech said the ball joints and tie rods were all tight and do not
need replacement at this time. Amazing these parts are still tight, factory
parts at that. I guess regular and routine greasing does help! So looks like
I dont have to dish out money and an entire weekend replacing these parts.
Not yet anyways. Now I have to think what I can spend the money on that I
thought I would need for the front end parts.......hehe.......probably
finally get around to dropping the front driveshaft for some u-joint
repair...........
