I have Vent-Shades on my '96 also. Have not noticed any appreciable noise.
I like them a lot, but that two inch width might as well be part of the door
post, you can't see through it.

I love my Dak.....BUT why the hell didn't they put any rain gutters at the
top of the doors? After a good rain, if you turn a corner with the windows
down, the roof drains straight down into the cab, seems to hit the electric
window control dead center. Any remedies? (smart ass answer #1: Keep the
windows up. haha) Do those side wind guards help?
