4 ohm speakers will usually play a little louder than 8 ohm speakers will if
everything else is equal. Solid state amplifiers usually put out more power
into a lower impedance load also. However, some radios or amps were not made
to operate at lower impedance loads and may blow fuses, overheat or even burn
out transistors or modules. In any system it is best to have all speakers
similar. If you had 4 ohm speakers on one chanel and 8 ohm speakers on the
other the balance would be off a little. There is a lot more to discuss about
this subject but this is the basic idea of what happens.
