In a 4 cyl, the plug closest to the front of the truck...it's hidden by one
BIG piece of metal which I REALLY don't feel like moving!!!!!! ummmm,
alternator hehehe
Was easier to do the ratchet extender piece ($3.99 - Autozone) snap on to
ratchet, snap spark plug socket and WHAMO, comes right out.

See, that's cause you have a V8. Have you looked in a V6 engine
compartment? The plugs are much harder to access. The back driver
side plug is under the brake cylinder. Why? I don't know. When I
was struggling with mine, my friend proudly popped the hood on his
V8, and showed me how much easier his were to reach. :(

I use a flex head ratchet (12" handle).
I also use a 20" long extention tipped with a universal/wobble joint,
then the spark plug socket.
I can change all 8 in a standing position. I don't have to lean in
real
far and I have plenty of leverage.
