The turbine interrupts the exhaust flow, which spins the turbine, which
spins the impeller, which sucks mongo amounts of AIR!
turbos, centrifical superchargers, roots superchargers, etc... are all
parasitic, the turbo is just the least parasitic, and the most efficient
form of boost. (Hell, an electric cooling fan is even parasitic, just quite
a bit less than an engine driven fan).

the turbo itself doesn't get in the exhaust's way. There is just a tube
welded to the manifold and the exhaust gasses travel through the tube...
nothing interrupts the flow of exhaust
