The MSD DIS-4 is for distributorless ignition systems (hence the D-I-S). It
gives you the multi-spark capability of the various MSD boxes plus
rev-limiter, rpm activated retard, and some other goodies.

Subject: DML: 4.7 ignition

With the "coil-on-plug" used on 4.7 engine, there are no aftermarket
ignitions available (i.e. hotter coils). Since these 8 individual coils are
fed 12 volts and the ground is interrupted by computer control to cause the
spark, would it be possible to add a DC-to-DC converter to it and feed the
coils a higher voltage (15-18 volt)? Any ideas on effect on spark and coil
longevity?
