Mike,
I would highly suggest trying to keep the exit pipe(the pipe after the
muffler) as short as possible. Originally, I had my Flowmaster welded in and
kept the stock pipe after the muffler; as the 2.5" stock pipe size is really
as large as you/I would need for a V6. The only thing I changed was having
the 90 exit pipe cut off and had a 45 degree mandrel pipe welded on. So
instead of have the pipe come out behind the rear tire, it exited at a
45degree angle and came out right at the corner of the rear bumper. I put a
Meg's Oval Stainless Steel Tip on it and it did look really sweet and
sounded sweet. However, I always had to take the tip off whenever I went
4wheeling, cause I didnt want to crush the tip on the trail, since it was
right below the bumper. This past weekend, I fired up the angle grinder and
cut off the 45degree pipe, just cause I was tired with messing around with
the exhaust tip. I put a cheap ole $6 'turn-down' style exhaust tip on and
put on a new hanger to the pipe from the frame and am done with it; nvery
solid setup. The exhaust tone is the same and believe it or not, performance
is definately up. I believe I cut off a total of about 28inches, including
the exhaust tip; I guess the faster the fumes can exit the pipe(s), the
better. I did really like the 45 degree exit location, but for my needs, it
just wasnt working out. Maybe this would be the route to go. Good Luck!
