Yea, traction bars would definitely help prevent this from happening. What
happens is the axle wraps up, causing the the driveshaft to be pushed
forward into the back of the tranny.
This is the same thing that happens to some folks when they use lowering
blocks that are not pre angled. The yoke becomes to far engaged into the
trans. and under a hard accel. if the axle should wrap up it will bottom out
inside the trans and cause damage. I would not have thought a factory
suspension like your truck has would allow this to happen, but I guess if
you really wrap the axle real hard (wheel hop real bad) it could happen. But
again, we're assuming the rear seal is your problem, we don't know for sure.
If you don't like the look of the traction bars you might try the spring
clamps, some folks have had luck with these (I have not). Also, recently I
installed Duetch Tech shocks on my truck and that really helped out the
handling of the truck. Dave Haber has the same shocks with out traction bars
or clamps and he said it cured his wheel hop. You might get away with just
the shocks??? The shocks will run you about $150-175 for four, the traction
bars will run 29.99 at Autozone, and the clamps are also available now at
Autozone for around 10 bucks!

You want 14's???? hee hee, Ok, here's the secret for 14's for the 4.7L......
Don't shift until 5500 rpms, if you are shifting below that now, I guarantee
you'll be in the 14's if you shift at 5500!!!
