Had a 97 Ram CC w/5.2L & 3:55 rear end. It had a slight "howl" between 45 & 50 mph when I had my foot "lightly" on the gas pedal. Took it to the dealer (a 5-star dealership...uh huh) and they couldn't reproduce the problem <sigh>.
Have a 99 Dak CC w/3.9L & 3:55 rear end now. Same noise as the Ram had. !@#$%!
I'm not sure if the noise is coming from the rear end. I've heard "howling" diff gears before and this doesn't sound like that. To me, it sounds like it *may* be coming from the transmission (a governor perhaps?).
BTW, I've heard that there's a TSB for the pinging 1999/2000 model Dak's (JTEC flash upgrade). Anyone know the TSB number?
