Isn't that half circle piece what holds down the distributor? Don't loosen
that. That will throw off your fuel syncronization/timing.

1) have you checked all your fuses? look at the nut that connects into your
relay box to see that it hasn't rattled loose.

2) when you turn the key to the "on" position, do you hear you fuel pump kick
on?

3) how are you diagnosing that you don't have a spark? pull a plug, plug the
wire in the back and GROUND it? have you considered your coil. if the
dakota has an "ignitor" that could be it.

Just some ideas for thought
