If it's a Dak he can shift from 4lo to 2 hi without slowing down. They are
shift on the fly, you can shift into 4lo in neutral below 3 miles an hour and
back out at any speed without going to neutral. Although it is highly not
reccommended to go over 25mph in 4lo. As for letting off the gas when you
shift, you don't have to do it, it's just easier on the T case. I've launched
my truck at redline in 4 hi before, not real good for it, but it makes for a
hell of a jump off the line.
