This sounds very much like the problem I was having with my Dak. Would start it
up and it would try to die and idled rough for a while. Once I got going it
would clear out and run fine. Got progressively rough over time until I had to
crank it 3 or 4 times before it would idle. Turned out to be a clogged fuel
filter. Unfortunately the fuel filter is not a replaceable item on my Dak (97)
and I had to replace the whole module in the gas tank which includes the pump.
Found out later that I could have requested the filter for a 96 and put it in my
old module and it would have worked fine, but oh well. I was 1,000 miles out of
my warranty but I talked my service manager into doing it under warranty
anyways, so I got lucky. Woulda had to shell out something like $400
otherwise. So anyways, check that fuel filter/pump and see what you come up
with. Can't believe they put the filter in the tank, such a pain to change.
