Do you have any idea why? I'm running the stock ignition with a Blaster 3
coil. Does this still apply?

Be careful with the Platinums. MSD does NOT recommend them for their
systems.

Just got an MSD blaster 3 coil from Cale, put it on, and new Bosch Platinums
(not +4s) Gapped to .040. BIG difference!!! Much better acceleration,
hopefully mileage will up too. It didn't seem to make a big difference at
all with an .035 gap. I didn't adjust timing any.
